I was also responsible for specification of work and enquiries, along with scheduling of development tasks.

Whilst at School Trends I was mainly responsible for advanced technical support of websites and a custom-built CMS system (built in PHP/MySQL) for over 200 customers, although I was also responsible for most aspects of ongoing CMS development ranging from minor UI improvements, to design and implementation of large-scale projects involving entire modules or large sections of the core framework. At School Trends I attended training courses on PHP Web Security and Object Oriented programming in PHP.

Computer Aided Drug Design Industrial Placement, June 2007 — September 2007
My MSc industrial placement project was the investigation and development of a potential new method for predicting the pharmacologically important property logP. The project involved writing a multitude of PERL scripts to manipulate the vast amount of data generated; Linux shell scripts, together with scripts for the statistical package R, were used to automate the required data processing and analysis.

At Knowcom we were constructing a medium-scale Internet application using VB/ASP.NET. My role involved general development and customising ASP controls as well as responsibility for development tools and layout/browser compatibility issues. As part of the project I attended a bespoke training course at Silicon Beach Training in Brighton, comprising their ASP.NET, ASP.NET2 and VB.NET courses.

I was responsible for brand promotion and sales of blank optical media (CD & DVDR) to retailers and distributors in the Scandinavian Territories. Work mainly involved generating and following up sales leads and managing orders. I hit the highest possible sales target four months in a row and was chosen to represent the company and promote their brands at the Cebit Technology fair in Hannover, Germany. I was involved in key marketing decisions and campaigns; I also designed and maintained a product Web page for one of my larger clients.

5 weeks voluntary service on the Coral Cay Honduras expedition, during which time I completed courses in coral reef surveying techniques, participated in numerous surveys and was involved in the training of new volunteers.
